FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We’ve compiled a list of common questions that you might be wondering about, along with details that will help you prepare for an amazing, fun-filled sailing trip with us! In case you have further questions, feel free to connect with us on WhatsApp, or send us a message here.

Who joins your trips (age, personality, body style)?

We cater to gay and bi men, typically between their 20s to 50. We encourage those who are comfortable being nude to join, as well as those who are curious about being in a naked environment with other guys.

If you have physical and/or medical conditions that may limit your ability to safely join the trip, we encourage you to seek a medical professional to check whether a sailing trip is right for you. It may be necessary to swim, lift heavy items, and/or engage in strenuous physical activity while on board (for example: pulling lines/ropes under tension), and sailing yachts can be difficult to access for those with mobility limitations.

Our main request is that everyone who joins Bare Waves Sailing comes with a relaxed and flexible attitude. We may need to make deviations from our planned itinerary due to weather or other factors, and everyone onboard has their own personality and expectations. With an open mind, we can each have a great vacation and time together!

Do I have to be naked onboard?

For our trips marked “Nude”, the expectation from other guests is to be able to enjoy the freedom that comes with being naked. Therefore, we ask guests on these trips to also join in. Of course, there are times when we will need to get dressed (when approaching and on land, when near other boats in close quarters, or when the temperatures drop while we are outside).

On trips marked “Clothing Optional” and on bespoke/custom trips, the group can decide whether to be nude, clothed, or clothing-optional.

What’s the atmosphere like onboard?

We like to create an open-minded energy on our trips. We go with the flow of the group, as each trip is slightly different, and each of our guests comes with different desires for their vacation. We encourage all guests to relax and unwind while onboard, allow good vibes to flow, and respect that others may also have a different goal for their trip. We will have a great time together, enjoying the sites and connections!

What happens if the little monster pops up?

When in the nude with other guys, things are sure to get a little exciting. We would like to encourage you to let things happen naturally and to try to welcome the extra stiffness (from you and others).

Do things get frisky onboard?

That is up to those on the trip to decide. While we welcome an open and positive environment, we also want to respect those who may wish not to engage in the extra fun. In such cases, we would ask to find a middle ground to ensure we have shared spaces that are welcoming for everyone.

Will I have my own cabin or do I share my cabin with someone else?

We offer both options. You can select whether you want your own cabin by choosing the “single occupancy” option when booking your trip.

Alternatively, you can select the “shared occupancy” option (which is the default booking option), where you will share the double-bed cabin with another person. If you are traveling alone, you will share the cabin with another passenger–maybe someone who becomes your special friend onboard! Alternatively, you may be able to sleep on a slightly larger bed in the saloon area. If you are traveling with another person and prefer, you can share a cabin together.

Cabins are either double bed or, in some cases, bunkbeds. Some cabins may include ensuite with a full bathroom and shower.

Can I make content for my social media onboard?

Yes. You’re welcome to do so, as long as you inform others if you are taking pictures or recording in community spaces (anywhere outside of your own cabin) and ask their permission if they are visible and/or audible in your content.

It is important that you refrain from recording or photographing anyone onboard without their express permission. To ensure guests’ privacy, we will ask anyone who records or photographs others without their permission to immediate cease and permanently delete the related content.

How are food and drinks handled during the trip?

Food brings us together in many different ways. Exactly who will provision the boat and prepare meals depends on whether the trip is a catered one. For catered sailing trips, we will provide the food, drinks, and an onboard chef to prepare meals and beverages. We’ll of course take into account any special dietary or allergy needs.

For trips that are self-provisioned, the crew (that’s you!) will work together as a team to stock up on your favorite ingredients and beverages from a shop near or at the marina. You’ll have the opportunity to cook, prepare cocktails, or wash up afterwards. This is a great way to showcase your cooking skills and share your favorite flavors from your culture with others, or to learn some new cooking skills from new friends on the trip!

For all trips, there will be a few meals–typically dinners–on shore at a local restaurant along the way. We’ll get the chance to sample the local cuisine, try out wines or liqueurs from the region, and stock up on any fresh produce along the way.

Is a sailing trip safe?

Safety is our number one priority on every trip. It’s one of the key parts to provide you with a comfortable, relaxing, and fun environment. We take safety very seriously and will make every effort to ensure we all return happy and healthy. Each yacht is equipped with at minimum all legally mandated safety equipment, and our skippers are trained in their use. We also conduct a detailed safety briefing with all guests upon embarking the vessel since there are a lot of moving parts, and we each need to know how to prevent injuries.

We also ask that all passengers follow any and all of the skippers’ instructions and posted placards onboard the ship. When we each do our part, sailing is a very rewarding and safe way to spend a vacation!

Also, the weather can be unpredictable, even with modern forecasting technology. In case of strong winds or bad weather, we may deviate from our plan, reduce the sails, change course, or take shelter at an anchorage or a nearby marina. Therefore, we kindly ask for your flexibility, as we might not always be able to go to each destination on the itinerary.

How do I become a member of the Bare Waves Sailing crew?

If you have experience and are licensed as a skipper, or if you have a skill that you believe would make a valuable addition to our sailing trip experiences (massage therapy, chef/cooking, etc.), connect with our head skippers, Dimi and Ross. We can discuss this in more detail and whether we can bring you aboard in a particular capacity on an upcoming trip.

I’d like to customize a trip for my own group or as a couple. Do you offer that?

Yes! We would be happy to tailor a trip just for you. Please see more details here, and let us know how we can curate a trip to meet your needs.

I’m traveling by myself. Is this trip right for me?

Yes! Sailing with us is a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Many people choose gay naked sailing for a solo trip, and you’re likely not the only one traveling alone.

How are food & drink costs managed?

For self-catered trips (those where instead of having an onboard nude chef, you the crew prepare food), we will use the “kitty” system. Find out more here. On trips that include an onboard nude chef, the costs for and preparation of meals and drinks are covered by Bare Waves Sailing.

I’m working on or have my sailing license. Can I gain more experience onboard?

Definitely! We ask each passenger to be part of our crew to help with all sorts of tasks while sailing. This can include cooking, tidying up, helping with the sails, anchoring, and more. One of our skippers can also sign your logbook as a crew member for the week.

Are you two a couple?

We (Dimi and Ross) are really good friends, but we are not a couple. Maybe you’re a match for one of us 😛
